I’m a researcher at Department of Linguistic, Literary and Aesthetic Studies, Univ. of Bergen, Norway. Our group has been known as Humanistic Informatics since the mid 1990s, but the summer of 2009 it changed name to Digital Culture.
I have been an associate at the department since 1998, when I startet working with my Ph.D, about how men and women experience that gender has something to do with computers, and how they position themselves in relation to computers. My current research is also about gender and ICT, but this time in a historical perspective, trying to find out ‘how we got here’.
I am also doing research in the field of computer games and gender, and together with Jill Walker Rettberg I edited Digital Culture, Play, and Identity: A World of Warcraft® Reader, published by MIT Press spring 2008.
